Our beloved brother, John Norris, passed suddenly into the Lord’s presence on Monday, May 10, 1999. About to return home from having tests in the hospital, he was struck with severe chest pain, and although taken into the hospital emergency unit, he passed away without regaining consciousness. His homecall comes as a severe loss, not only to the assembly in Sault Ste. Marie, but to many of God’s dear people across Canada and the United States, where he has faithfully labored in the gospel, and ministry to the Lord’s people.
Although hindered in recent years in his work for God by a lingering illness, he always sought opportunity to serve the Lord whenever possible. His last message in the gospel was spoken on May 2, just a week before his death. He remembered the Lord in the assembly on May 9.
Brother Norman Crawford spoke faithful words at the funeral from John’s favorite text, Galatians 2:20. Timothy Kember gave a short message at the grave.
Please remember his beloved wife of 54 years, Margaret, in prayer, also two sons and two daughters and their spouses who are waiting for the glad day of reunion. He left fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
