Richmond: The annual Vancouver Easter Conference hosted by the West Richmond assembly in their hall saw over 300 believers in attendance. Afterwards, Stephen Grant stayed for three nights, April 21-23, for helpful ministry on spiritual gifts from 1 Corinthians.

Vancouver: Alan Smith visited the Fairview assembly on the Lord’s Day, May 4, and also gave ministry for two nights, May 5-6. The Victoria Drive assembly commenced gospel meetings May 4 with Jim Jarvis and Frank Sona.

Manitoba

New Brunswick

Sussex: The assembly commenced a gospel series April 27 with Brody Thibodeau, helped by Aaron Hubley (Bridgewater, NS). Meetings were also livestreamed via Zoom.

Newfoundland

St. John’s: The assembly began gospel meetings with Tim Burton and Matthew Cain by having a community supper on April 27. The meetings were expected to run until May 11.

Nova Scotia

Halifax: The North Street assembly held a series of Treasure Seekers children’s meetings for seven Thursday nights this past winter. They were encouraged by over 30 children attending weekly, several new families attending, and how well the children memorized Romans 10:9-10.

They held a gospel supper in April, with many visitors from the community joining them. The gospel message was shared during the supper in between the main course and dessert. This seemed to work very well.

The assembly looks forward to their annual conference June 7-8 in which they expect to cover 2 Corinthians 1-6. Visitors are welcome.

Ontario

Cornwall: Peter Ramsay visited the assembly for an encouraging gospel series in April. Please pray for some who attended and continue to be troubled about their need of salvation. The assembly also rejoiced as four believers recently obeyed the Lord in baptism.

Fenelon Falls: Lorne Langfeld set up a gospel booth April 25-27 at the Kawartha Lakes Country Living Show with the support of the Victoria Road assembly in Kirkfield, ON.

North Bay: The Nipissing Junction assembly held gospel meetings April 27-May 9 with Murray Pratt, helped by local brethren.

Prince Edward Island

Charlottetown: The assembly enjoyed a week of ministry meetings in March with Eugene Higgins, who used his chart on Egypt to Canaan. The focus was on a number of young believers who were baptized late last summer. The week was very encouraging for old and young alike as all found it very practical and refreshing.

U.S.A.

Arizona

Phoenix: The Orangewood assembly continues their series of short Saturday night devotionals via Zoom on “The Person and Work of Our Lord Jesus Christ” to help believers prepare for worship on the Lord’s Day. Brethren taking part to date include Peter Higgins (Pennsauken, NJ, April 12), Trevor Hayes (Culver City, CA, April 19), Paul Barnhardt (April 26) and Paul Barbour (Waubaushene, ON, May 3).

California

Galt: The assembly is planning to host a conference November 8-9, D.V.

Iowa

Garnavillo: The gospel meetings that commenced mid-March closed on April 11. Local brethren David Yoder and Brandon Wahls helped for the last few weeks. The assembly is hopeful that a woman battling cancer who listened online may have been saved.

Michigan

Livonia: The Stark Road assembly held gospel meetings during the week leading up to Easter, April 13-20, with Gene Higgins in a series entitled “Eight Days that Changed the World.”

New Jersey

Beginning mid-March, Harry Rodriguez spent a month helping primarily in the Spanish gospel work in this New Jersey/Pennsylvania region. There was some fruit seen, and the Spanish-speaking believers were encouraged. Both his sacrifice of time and his interest in the work here were deeply appreciated.

Barrington: David Vallance was with the assembly for a weekend of ministry April 5-6 on “The Doctrine of the Gospel.” The assembly enjoyed and profited from the rich ministry.

Pennsauken: The believers appreciated seven nights of gospel preaching in Spanish with the help of Harry Rodriguez in early April. This followed his previous efforts in the gospel and teaching in the Castor Avenue section of Philadelphia in March. The believers were encouraged with the clear preaching, a nice variety of individuals out to hear the gospel, and evidence that a number are listening with apparent interest. Pray for help as the local believers seek to maintain and cultivate these contacts in light of gospel tent work in English and Spanish planned for June with Willians Alcala and Gene Higgins.

A baptism was held on Easter evening, with three sisters obeying the Lord in baptism. It was one of those rare occasions when visitors outnumbered the believers, as about 50-70 visitors came in to hear the gospel and witness the baptisms.

Hickory: The assembly held gospel meetings April 27-May 11 with David Hierlihy, helped by Gordon Armstrong and Darris Barney (both from Tampa, FL).

Pennsylvania

Bryn Mawr: The assembly appreciated ministry by Sandy Higgins on three consecutive Wednesday nights in March/April on the post-exilic prophets: Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. Some of the saints from the Olney (Philadelphia) assembly were able to attend as well. The ministry was followed up with Bible readings on Ezra (followed by Nehemiah), and also a recent gospel message emphasizing “Thus saith the Lord” in Haggai.

Wisconsin

Ontario: The unplanned series of gospel meetings with Brandon Doll and John Meekin that commenced March 30 closed on May 9.

Special Report

Botswana

Colin and Christine Raggett write: We had a series of gospel meetings in the gospel hall here in Palapye. Dan and Gwen Gillies from Scotland visited us for four weeks of meetings that started March 17. Dan gave helpful Bible teaching each Saturday and Lord’s Day evening over three weekends and preached to the Bible class each week. The saints were encouraged by their visit and by the attendance at the gospel meetings. The work in the schools continues week by week. Some schools are visited every week, others less frequently. Please pray for the thousands of students who are hearing the gospel weekly. We thank the Lord for the liberty enjoyed and the privilege of challenging these students with the Word of God. Eternity alone will reveal the results.

Homecalls

Lloyd Taylor of Taylorside, SK, on January 29, 2025, age 92. Saved at the age of 18, he was later baptized and received into assembly fellowship at Taylorside. Lloyd was well known for his generosity, care for others, hospitality and leadership by example. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (née Cummings of Arborfield, SK) of 65 years and an infant daughter. The funeral service was taken by his grandson Riley Taylor, who spoke an excellent gospel message. Morgan Taylor spoke at the interment. Lloyd will be greatly missed.

Matthew John Brescia of Windsor, CT, on February 15, 2025, age 86. He was saved on April 25, 1947, at age nine after reading the question in Matthew 27:22 and answering, “I will receive Him,” living his life in such a manner. He and Joyce, his wife of 65 years, enjoyed a loving family of five children, 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Their home was always open for hospitality, and Matt, being a consummate storyteller, made many occasions there a time of warmth and fellowship. Matt was the publisher and editor of Words in Season magazine for over 25 years in service to the Lord’s people worldwide. He was a beloved elder, shepherd and gifted gospel preacher at the Hartford and then Newington Gospel Halls. Matt loved to share the gospel with those he came in contact with. The funeral was shared by his son Bill, son-in-law Philip Rockey, Eugene Higgins and nephew Jonathan Procopio.

June (Wilson) Tanis of Arlington, WA, on April 5, 2025, age 69, after a brief battle with cancer. Growing up in a Christian home, she was always aware of her need to be saved. At age 11, June was saved through John 6:37. The peace of God and His promises were her constant comfort as she anticipated her departure to be with Christ. A valued and loved member of the Marysville, WA, assembly, June was like Dorcas of old, “full of good works.” She knit countless blankets for African babies, cut and sewed dozens of pillow cases, and made personalized Christmas stockings for family and every baby at the gospel hall. She is survived by her husband Terry of 46 years, two sons and their wives, and five grandchildren. A large crowd heard the gospel clearly presented by Tom Hoy. Please pray for family members not yet saved.

Magdalene (Mag) Devries of Aplington, IA, on April 18, 2025, age 95. She was saved in July 1984 while attending gospel meetings held in a large tent in Allison, IA, with Norman Crawford and Harold Paisley. Three Bible verses that were meaningful and precious to her were Romans 5:6, Romans 5:8 and 1 John 1:7. Following baptism, Mag was received into the assembly that meets in Hitesville, IA. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and mowing her lawn, even up until three years ago. Mag is survived by Earl, her husband of 71 years, a sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Brandon Doll spoke both at the service in the Hitesville Gospel Hall and at the graveside.
