It is the Lord’s doing that has kept this door open with no other ‘religious’ groups allowed.

Special Reports

Colombia

Miguel Castro writes: My wife Sandy and I serve the Lord in Sincelejo, Sucre (in the northern part of Colombia), working across the departments (states) of Sucre, Córdoba and Atlántico. We believe the Lord has called us to focus on doctrinal teaching with the six local assemblies in the area; there is a particular need for them to understand the characteristics and functions of an assembly. As a young couple, we have the compelling desire to share the gospel even amidst various challenges, including the fact that this rural region is very poor. We have been working in Chinú, Córdoba, for over two years, holding two growing Bible classes and engaging with interested neighbors. Please pray for these ministries – the outreach Bible classes in various areas, and the visits we make to small assemblies to teach and encourage the believers.

Other Fields

Venezuela

Sidney Turkington (Battle Creek, MI) writes on behalf of the Venezuela Relief Fund Team: Believers from different assemblies make regular visits to the earthquake-disaster area bringing food and medication. People who lost their homes and were lodged in tents near their collapsed buildings are being forced to move to make way for the removal of the collapsed structures. The “Gospel Tent” also had to be moved to another area for the same reason. However, the gospel continues to be preached in the new area. The assembly in La Guaira continues to gather in the home of one of the believers, while final disposition of the gospel hall is determined by the authorities. It is presumed that a complete demolition of the hall will eventually be required. A house has been purchased for the brother who lost his wife and two children. This house belonged to Hector Polanco, who was commended to the Lord’s work in the Dominican Republic a couple of years ago, so the purchase price is being used to buy a suitable house for our brother in S. Domingo where he labors. In Morón and El Palito, construction continues on several new houses for believers who lost their homes as well as on the Day School. VRF medical help continues for believers in need.

Homecalls

Margaret (Peggy) Annie Longstaff of Newdale, MB, on April 4, 2026, aged 101. Born in MacGregor, MB, on September 25, 1924, Peggy attended the United Church and was later exposed to false JW teaching. She and her husband William (predeceased in 2017) heard the Bible-oriented preaching during gospel meetings with Jim Webb in a trailer at Rivers, MB, in the late 60s, were both saved, and later received into fellowship in the Brandon, MB, assembly, where they served the Lord together. Being very gospel-minded and deeply exercised about family, friends and neighbours, they held Bible readings in their home. Peggy was a teacher by profession, taught Sunday school for many years, and was an avid reader, even at age 100. She is survived by many family members, for whom prayer is requested as most of them are unsaved. The funeral and graveside services were taken by Pete Smith.

Ernest Robert Bain of Parry Sound, ON, on May 27, 2026, aged 94. He grew up on the family homestead on the East Road in Loring, ON. Ernie trusted Christ as his Savior at age 13 and was faithful to God’s assembly the rest of his life. He was an elder in the Arnstein, ON, assembly, and was in fellowship in the Nipissing Junction, ON, assembly in his later years until his retirement. In his final years, Ernie went into a retirement home and was received into the Parry Sound assembly. He was predeceased by his wife Marion (née Clapperton), who went home to heaven in 2018, their son Darwin (1956), and their infant daughter Joy. Ernie leaves behind his three surviving children Darlene (Albert), Pam (Barry), and Darcy (Ginette); six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. At the funeral, the gospel was preached by David Booth, with many unsaved present.

Anna (Mae) Hanna of Brandon, MB, on June 12, 2026, aged 92. As a girl she was taught Bible verses from Alberta Premier Ernest Manning’s Back to the Bible Hour, which played a big part in her salvation on July 8, 1954, while she was in nurses’ training in Brandon. Psalm 103:12 was a great comfort to her. During Mae’s continued training in Winnipeg, MB, she was baptized and received into the assembly meeting in the West End Gospel hall, where she also met her husband Glen. Living in Brandon until the time of her passing, she was well known for her love of the Lord, for Glen, her four children, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her generous hospitality; and her sweet countenance, which carried her through her suffering during her last days.

Nancy Brandon of Lambton Shores, ON, on June 15, 2026, aged 74. Nancy was the beloved daughter of Charles and Hannah Johnson of San Diego, CA. She came to know the Savior in her youth. Nancy faithfully attended the meetings, but had been in failing health for several years and was lovingly cared for at North Lambton Lodge in Forest, ON. Predeceased by her brother Charles Jr., she is survived by her husband Lorne of nearly 51 years, children Peter Brandon and Nicole Brandon, and sisters Charlene Ramet and Grace Johnson. Nancy will be missed by many family and friends on both sides of the border, and her wide smile will be missed by all of us. A short service of committal at Ravenswood Cemetery was followed by a funeral service in the Lake Shore Gospel Hall, with the gospel clearly presented by local brethren, and a eulogy by nephew Norman Brandon.

Jane Ann Allen-Quashie of Oshawa, ON, on June 15, 2026, aged 86. She was born on September 27, 1939, and saved as a young girl in Trinidad. After taking nursing, Jane Ann spent time in England and later came to the Oshawa area. Upon finding an assembly there, she came into fellowship and was faithful for the last 40 years. Jane Ann always had a happy spirit and loved both the assembly and God’s Word. She was an excellent nurse and worked with children. Predeceased by one daughter, Jane Ann is survived by a son and daughter who live in the Oshawa area. At her funeral, her eulogy was given by the family and Gary Oakes. The gospel was preached by Ken Nicholson and later by Gary Oakes at the graveside.

James Redmond (Reddie) Blair of Vancouver, BC, on July 27, 2026, aged 92. Born on November 18,1933, he was brought up under the sound of the gospel in N. Ireland and was saved in his late teens on June 24, 1952. After his marriage to Isobel Scott, they immigrated to Canada. For a short time they lived in Manitoba and then moved to the Vancouver area where they lived faithfully for the Lord. Reddie loved his Lord and Savior, the Word of God, the assembly of God, and the people of God. He was a faithful overseer, caring shepherd, a man of prayer, and an encourager who is sorely missed by the assembly (Heb 13:7). Reddie was predeceased by his wife Isobel in 2018. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Elizabeth, Lesley, Jennifer, and their families. The funeral was shared by D. Hammersmark, W. Skates, W. Barr and S. McKinley.

Daniel Suppa of Kirkland Lake, ON, on August 16, 2026, aged 69. He came into contact with the local assembly some time after his two sons attended Sunday School. Over a period of ten years Dan visited periodically. In February 2016, he was abruptly convicted about his sinful lifestyle and came to the gospel meeting expressing a desire to be saved. On a stormy winter Monday morning, he walked to a bookstore, bought a Bible, and found peace reading John 3:16. Dan never turned back, and it was a joy to hear his simple expression of thanks at the Lord’s Supper. His quiet faithfulness was such an encouragement to the saints for as long as he was able to attend. For the last two years Dan was confined to a nursing home, where he bore a good testimony to the God who changes lives for His glory.

Dr. Larry L. Brandt of Cedar Falls, IA, on August 22, 2026, aged 85. He was saved May 29, 1940, through Romans 5:6 during gospel meetings conducted by Lorne McBain in Garnavillo, IA. Larry was an optometrist in Parkersburg, IA, for 43 years. He was married to Diana, and together they attended the Hitesville, IA, Gospel Hall, where Larry served as correspondent for over 40 years. He maintained an active interest in gospel work, and he and Diana showed hospitality to people from around the world. When they moved to Cedar Falls in 2020, they gathered with the believers there. Diana’s passing in 2021 after 58 years of marriage magnified his longing for heaven. At the service, the Lord was glorified and the gospel was faithfully presented to a full hall. “Eye has not seen … the things which God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
