Special Report
France
Denis O’Hare writes from Perpignan: After a few years of little attendance at the gospel meeting, we are encouraged to see a few unsaved people attending every Lord’s Day. We feel our weakness and pray for clearness in bringing forth the gospel. There are five of us in fellowship here: one sister Josèphe, our daughter Rachel and her husband David Turkington, and my wife Jean and me. Our health no longer allows us to be as active as we used to be and we very much appreciate the visits of brethren (mostly British) who help in the meetings when they come on holidays. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, we visit the assembly in Cannes. This time of fellowship is much valued by both assemblies.

Homecalls
Newell Bingham of Ballykeel, Mourne, N. Ireland, on July 15, 2025, age 95. He was saved as a boy while praying with his mother in the potato field on the family farm. After graduating with a National Diploma in Poultry Husbandry in 1951, Newell married Marley, and together they raised four sons. He was in the Ballykeel assembly for over 30 years, teaching Sunday School and serving as an elder. During his many travels across Europe in the 1960s and 1970s, he smuggled Bibles behind the Iron Curtain and sought to worship with believers in the countries he visited. Newell’s passion for the Mourne Mountains and its greenery was surpassed only by his love for his Savior and his family. During his funeral in the Ballykeel Gospel Hall, a large gathering of family, friends and neighbors heard a tribute to his life of service, as well as a fitting gospel message from Jonathan Bingham.
Thomas Lewis of Pickering, ON, on July 16, 2025, age 66. He was the husband of his beloved wife Maureen (Hood) one month short of 40 years. Tom was introduced in high school to the gospel by another student who was a sister in the Pape Avenue assembly in Toronto, ON. He was later saved while attending gospel meetings and deeply under the conviction of sin. Tom was in fellowship for 50 years in the Pape Avenue (now Victoria Park) assembly and latterly in the Albert Street assembly in Oshawa, ON. In addition to preaching the gospel, Tom also deeply loved his Lord and the assembly. For 20 years, he shepherded God’s people while on the oversight. Ken Nicholson shared Tom’s testimony at the large funeral, and Lorne Langfeld preached the gospel. Lorne also gave words of hope at the graveside. Tom’s seat is empty, and he shall be missed.
Jack Ritchie Donaldson of Akron, OH, on August 5, 2025, age 88. Born March 7, 1937, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of two immigrants from Scotland. He was saved at the age of 19 during a gospel meeting at the West Chicago Gospel Hall in Detroit. John Govan preached on John 1:29, and Jack realized Jesus had died to take away his sins. His daughter pointed out that the three loves of his life were his Lord and Savior, the local assembly and his family. Until ill health made attendance impossible, Jack was always at the assembly meetings. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy, his daughter Elizabeth, and two grandchildren. A kind, thoughtful and generous man, Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
